Finishing my tour of Pakistan with a broken foot and after getting dropped also was not the way I planned things to go, obviously, but these things happen in cricket.
I was looking forward to the one-day series but the medics have told me that I will be out of cricket for six weeks and I will be flying back to Georgetown in a couple of days.
I might have been left out of the second Test also, but I wouldn’t say it’s been a nightmare tour for me; things just didn’t go to plan. These disappointments happen in sports. It’s an opportunity for me to come back stronger and I'm confident I will.
Since Malaysia I feel I have been striking the ball well enough and have been getting starts but just haven’t been able to go on and get a big score. I think it’s more a mental thing that I need to put right. But I will work on it for when I come back.
In terms of the tour as a whole, I thought we competed pretty well but we would have liked to have at least drawn the series.
There are a lot of positives to come out of it, especially the performances of Jerome Taylor. He bowled really well and I just hope he can continue his development at the current rate. Brian’s batting was also a big plus and he showed again what a great player he is.
I will now be spending time at home but I certainly won’t be resting totally. My foot might be broken but I will be using this time to work on my upper body a lot more in the gym so it won’t be just a matter of putting my feet up in front of the TV!
