It’s disappointing to find myself on the sidelines again because of another injury but such is life and I am trying not to get too down about it.
I would love to have played in the KFC CUP semi-final against Jamaica and gone up against my West Indies team-mate Chris Gayle, who is skippering Jamaica, but it’s not to be. One of my team-mates accidentally stepped on the ankle playing touch rugby when we were warming up before the match against Trinidad & Tobago.
It’s disappointing because I scored 70 in the first KFC match and I was starting to strike the ball nicely but this is cricket.
I’m told that I will probably be out for three to four weeks but it’s going to be monitored so we will just have to wait and see.
I can’t do anything at the moment because I can’t put any weight on the ankle so I am just relaxing – there’s not much else I can do for the time being.
I will be going to Canada for a spell to get the injury looked at as they have the best technology there. I want to be fully fit in time for the Zimbabwe and South Africa tours after a frustrating run of injuries over the last year.
Since we returned from the Twenty20 World Cup, the West Indies Cricket Board has appointed a new coach. I haven’t met him yet though I’m sure that will happen soon enough.
